fter years of focusing on explaining and predicting positive employee

attitudes (e.g., job satisfaction, employee commitment) and behaviors

(e.g., employee citizenship, work performance), organizational behavior

researchers have increasingly turned their attention to understanding what drives

costly misconduct in organizations (Bennett & Robinson, 2000; Giacalone & Greenberg, 1997; Robinson & Bennett, 1995; Robinson & O’Leary-Kelly, 1998;

Treviño, 1986; Vardi & Wiener, 1996). Although researchers have used a variety of terms to describe such employee behavior (e.g., deviance, antisocial behavior, misbehavior, counterproductive behavior, unethical behavior), all of them share a concern with counternormative behavior intended to harm the organization or its stakeholders (O’Leary-Kelly, Duffy, & Griffin, 2000). Unethical behavior in organizations has been widely reported in the wake of many recent high-profile corporate scandals. As researchers and practitioners consider what may be driving such behavior, leaders are coming under increasing scrutiny not only because many senior executives are accused of having committed unethical acts but also because of the role that leaders at all levels are thought to play in managing the ethical (and unethical) conduct of organization members. For example, Bernie Ebbers, the former chief executive officer of WorldCom, was hailed as a great leader for growing the company into a telecommunications superpower. The team needs to choose a CGI technology for the company's new primary Web site. Darius must write the recommendation that upper management will review in deciding whether to approve funds. In creating a short summary of the project, Darius asked his team members to help answer the following questions:Does developers in the company know common CGI technologies?What operating systems are currently in use in the company? (by percentage, such as 50 percent Windows, 30 percent Linux, 20 percent Solaris)What operating systems are ideal for this project?What Web servers are ideal for this project?Darius learned that the company's computer environment was almost completely Windows-based. Also, several members of the Web development team knew how to use VBScript and had experience using Active Server Pages (ASP). Although ASP is an older Microsoft technology (.NET is newer and more versatile), the Web development team recommended ASP as the best choice. As Darius' team made their choice, they considered the importance of using client-side technologies such as JavaScript. However, they also considered that some browsers do not support JavaScript, and that some users may deactivate JavaScript in their browsers, which could cause Web pages to render differently and disappoint some site visitors. After some deliberation, Darius and his team decided to use server-side technology (specifically ASP) for all applications. * * *Would Darius' team have chosen the same CGI technology if the computer environment had been mostly Linux? What might they have chosen instead?If Darius' team had chosen a client-side technology, what steps could they have taken to improve accessibility? /tutors-problems/Business/10716236 10716236 PSY 847 Biological Psychology Lecture 8 Reproductive and Emotional Behaviors Introduction Many behavioral changes are closely tied to changes in the... Hey there Doctor.melody!Well this is my last week in this painstaking course. I'd like to thank you for all your support & superb work! However, there will be other times that I will need your assistance.Therefore, please help me with this assignment. Please ensure there are at least 4 sentences in a paragraph and always cite the resources (preferably within the past 5 years). I have included some References that you could possibly use along with this week’s Lecture Note Focus on Research: Since you are very well familiar with my research project this should come to you with ease to be answered.1.As you approach writing your own dissertation, what is something you have learned about doing scholarly research? What is a question you have about doing scholarly research? 2.To what extent do our "programmed" physiological responses to stressors affect our behavior and health? Explain. 2a. Reflecting on the material from this course, do you believe these responses are adaptable? 2b. Why or why not? 2c. How might this position influence your intended research? 3.What was the most important thing you learned during this class? 3a. And what important question remains unanswered? [Reference is not required for this DQ] But please ensure there is the 4 sentences in a paragraphBlessings!  PSY 847 Biological Psychology Lecture 8 Reproductive and Emotional Behaviors Introduction Many behavioral changes are closely tied to changes in the levels, release, and actions of hormones, which are chemicals released into the body by cells or glands in order to influence other cells. Hormones are key regulators of many bodily functions. This means that hormones play a key role in health status. Hormones set in motion many bodily functions in response to external stimuli that can be either real or improperly perceived. Beyond their role in regulating body functions, hormones are also an important regulator of human mood states. Disruption of these patterns can have a major impact on behavior. A good example is seasonal affective disorder, which is associated with the hormonal changes that occur in winter, when days are shorter and there is less sunlight. Even minute changes in the level of a hormone or the responsiveness of a hormone receptor can greatly affect bodily functions and behavior. Hormone Activity and Eating Numerous hormones from fat cells, the gastrointestinal tract, and the pancreas influence eating by acting on the hypothalamus, the brain stem, and the autonomic nervous system (Coll, Farooqi, & O'Rahilly, 2007). Attempts have been made to use this knowledge to create appetite- suppressing compounds. Recently, an important step toward this goal was made by studying naturally genetically obese and diabetic mice. The obese mice have a gene mutation that decreases their ability to produce leptin, a compound that comes almost exclusively from fat cells (Zhang et al., 1994). In contrast, the genetically diabetic mice produce excess amounts of leptin, but lack the ability to use it (Friedman & Halaas, 1998). Giving leptin to the obese mice reversed their overeating and other related disorders (Friedman & Halaas). Humans that genetically lack leptin are also severely obese and respond dramatically to leptin administration (Friedman & Halaas). The results from these and other studies may help to develop medications and health programs that benefit those who are naturally prone to eating disorders. Biological Factors and Sexual Orientation Sexual orientation in humans is a topic of much interest and debate. Over the years, many hypotheses have been presented to explain the existence of homosexuality factors (Bailey, Dunne, & Martin, 2000; Bailey & Pillard, 1991; Blanchard, 1997; Bogaert & Skorska, 2011;

Schacter, Gilbert, & Wegner, 2009). However, how genetic and developmental differences result in a specific sexual orientation is not clear. Regardless of what causes the differences, one result is differences in the production and effect of certain sex-related hormones. In one study, scientists exposed heterosexual men and women and homosexual men to a testosterone-related hormone produced in male sweat and to an estrogen-like compound in female urine. When homosexual men smelled the odor of male sweat, their brains responded like those of heterosexual women (Savic, Berglund, & Lindström, 2005). /tutors-problems/Business/10716238 10716238 How might you apply the concepts of TQ to your personal life? Turn your attention to the Pacific plate. Note that the Pacific Ocean is comprised of several plates; we want to focus on the very large Pacific plate (not the Nazca plate, or Cocos plate, or Philippine plate or other plates.) The Pacific plate is “born” underwater at the East Pacific rise, the spreading ridge west of South America. It is being destroyed at convergent boundaries around its northern, western, and southern boundaries. a.  Is the East Pacific Rise spreading faster or slower than the mid-Atlantic Ridge and how can you tell - without doing any calculations? Has the rate been constant over time?b.  Make and print out a graph (similar to what you did in question 24) for movement of the Pacific plate away from the East Pacific Rise. c.  Describe the motion of the Pacific plate relative to the East Pacific Rise, based on this seafloor age data - direction of motion, average speed and whether or not speed and direction has been constant over time.d.  Consider the Volcanic Chains in the Pacific Ocean (Hawaiian/Emperor, Louisville, and Easter Island). Do these data support the movement you deduce for the Pacific Plate? Explain.e.  What does the bend in the Hawaiian/Emperor chain indicate happened about 50 million years ago to the direction of Pacific plate movement?
